| ARNOLD PALMER-THE KING
Nicknamed “The King”, Arnold Daniel Palmer is considered as one of the greatest golf players in the history of professional golf. As an American golfer, he has won several tournaments on both the PGA tour and Champions tour. He is one of the most popular golf stars. Along with Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player Arnold Palmer also formed a part of golf’s Big Three. In 1974 palmer was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. He won the PGA Tour
Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998.
He was born in Pennsylvania. He learnt golf from his father Deacon Palmer. As a youngster, he was allowed to play only in the morning or late afternoon. Using a Golf scholarship, he attended Wake Forest University. He returned to competitive golf and won the U.S. Amateur championship in 1954. He won the 1955 Canadian Open. Between 1958 and 1962, he won seven major championships. He captained the team in 1975. In 2004, he participated in the Masters for the last time, marking his 50th consecutive appearance in that event.
In 2000, Golf Digest magazine ranked him the sixth greatest player of all time.
He had a diverse golf related business. He now resides near his golf course in Florida.
